Zeetta Networks showcased the 5G Enabled Tourism project at the inaugural IBC2019 Telecoms and Media Catalyst in Amsterdam.

The Catalyst was an extension of the original DCMS 5G trials and testbeds programme 5G Smart Tourism project which centered around tourism use cases at the UNESCO World Heritage City of Bath.

Working with Aardman, BBC R&D, CCS and the University of Bristol Zeetta Networks demonstrated an Augmented Reality (AR) application using Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) to give visitors a unique view of the Roman Baths at 3 key stages of History.

Zeetta Networks used NetOS Rapide to control a demonstration network and provide mobile edge computing (MEC).  MEC plays an important role in this use case as the processing power needed to create AR images rapidly depletes phone battery life.  Edge processing significantly increases battery life for this type of application.
