Manufacturing Use Cases

Using 5G to transform enterprise mobile private networks

Exploring the use of enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), massive machine communication (mMTC) and ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC) to remotely train employees, track materials and tools into and around the factory and remote data processing the production process, 5G-ENCODE validated that 5G in an enterprise mobile private network can be used to transform manufacturing.

Sponsor testimonial:

I am writing to congratulate you and your consortium colleagues on completing the 5G EnCoDe project.
We know that many of the projects that we supported have delivered their projects in a challenging environment, with the disruption of Covid and supply chains being prominent
among those challenges. I wanted to acknowledge the dedication and professionalism that were needed to navigate through that.
The DCMS team has enjoyed working with you and appreciates your openness in sharing information on progress and issues and also your efforts in respect of collaborating with
other projects and in sharing information more widely. You have made a valuable contribution to the 5G Testbeds and Trials Programme’s aims.

Keith Bullock, Programme Director, 5G Testbeds and Trials, DCMS
