31st March 2021: Today, Zeetta Networks, a leading provider of open networking software automation tools, announces a world first as it deploys a new release of its network orchestration software targeting private cellular networks, which gives unified control and management of both Mobile (5G, LTE) and Wi-Fi networks, all from a single pane of glass.

This unique new technology has been deployed at 5G-ENCODE, a pioneering project that aims to make the benefits of 5G a reality for UK manufacturers. 5G-ENCODE is the UK’s largest trial of industrial 5G and one of the UK Government’s biggest investments in 5G for manufacturing to date. The technology has already been tested with successful outcomes in large scale deployments, including smart city initiatives, Bristol is Open and Bournemouth Smart Place, and multi-purpose venues including Ashton Gate Stadium.

The homegrown British software has been developed based on open standards, meaning it is compatible with O-RAN (Opehttps://www.bcpcouncil.gov.uk/News/News-Features/Smart-Place/Smart-Place.aspxn Radio Access Networks) and other open networking technologies, making it both technology and vendor agnostic. This directly supports the UK government’s recent 5G Supply Chain Diversification Strategy, which advocates deployment models based on open interfaces and interoperable standards.

The 5G Supply Chain Diversification Strategy was published to set out the Government’s plan to improve the resilience of the UK’s telecoms networks, boost competition and innovation in the 5G supply market, and put the country in the strongest position to unlock the wealth of economic and business benefits that 5G promises. Zeetta Network’s orchestration software aims to deliver on these key strategic objectives.

As the UK seeks to recover from the economic impact of COVID-19, homegrown British innovation will play a critical role in creating jobs, driving inward investment and contributing to the country’s economic recovery. Today’s deployment is the first step in realising the vision of a more open, innovative and secure telecoms sector.

Vassilis Seferidis, Founder and CEO, Zeetta Networks, says: “We are incredibly excited to announce this new release of our technology targeting private cellular networks. As it stands today, Zeetta is the only company in the world able to visualise, control and manage connectivity services in such a vendor and technology agnostic way. This puts the UK at the forefront of 5G technology innovation which, when combined with network slicing and splicing, will be revolutionary for designing and operating networks now and in the future”.

Matt Warman, Digital Infrastructure Minister, says: “The race is on to upgrade to 5G and unleash a wave of innovation across the country, so we are pleased to support Bristol firm Zeetta Networks as it brings its world-leading networking software to the UK market. Having a new and smaller supplier such as Zeetta developing this revolutionary technology supports our efforts to build back better with a more resilient and diverse telecoms supply chain”.
