David was Chief Engineer for Technology Evaluation and led Vodafone’s corporate venture team in Europe during his 14 years at Vodafone. In this time the fund was ranked in the top 5 CVCs, David was included in Wired Magazine’s top 100 innovators’ list and he was named as one of the most influential CVCs in the Global Corporate Venturing Powerlist 100.
He knows how to spot a commercial technology and test to ensure that it is defensible and disruptive. Starting in the defence industry he learned that with the right people and the right money anything is possible. He brings this invaluable expertise to Bloc and knows how to dig deep and personally look under the bonnet while understanding the commercial ramification of industry dynamics.
Ian Jenks has over 30 years of experience in senior executive roles at technology companies. In addition to be a non-executive director at Zeetta Networks ltd., Ian is currently Chairman and CEO of Smartkem ltd, Chairman of Pyreos ltd, Chairman of Impression Technologies ltd, and a non-executive Director of Nexeon ltd, and Econic ltd and Zeetta. He was previously Chairman of Swedish listed company Birdstep Technology ASA, Senior Independent Director of Paysafe plc and Chairman Brady plc all of which were sold to private equity. Ian spent a number of years based on the west coast of America where he was a partner in the venture capital fund, Crescendo Ventures LLP, Chairman of Oplink Communications Inc. and President of Uniphase Inc.
Reza is currently a full professor and head of High-Performance Network Group in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in University of Bristol. He has established successful and internationally recognized research activities in University of Bristol on “Software Defined Network”, “Network Virtualisation” and “Quantum Secured Networking”. Under his leadership, these research activities have been transformational and have done major contributions in open, programmable and quantum secured Telecom Infrastructure.
His research received the prestigious IEEE Charles Kao Award 2016. He has contributed to more than 300 peer-reviewed papers and several standardisation documents.
Vassilis has over 30 years’ experience in Telecoms and Electronics. Previously, Vassilis was VP of Business Development for Samsung Electronics responsible for driving revenue growth and strategic development in Europe. He also held positions at BT, Toshiba, Philips, QIO Systems and British Standards Institute. In 2011 he was included in the Euro50 list of the 50 most influential people in the European telecoms industry. His academic qualifications include BSc in Physics, MSc in Telecoms, PhD in Electronic Systems Engineering and an MBA from City, University of London.
