SERVICE PROVIDERS

For Service Providers and Network Operators, the growing need to stay connected – coupled with the commonplace use of video communications – is proving to be a vast technical challenge. Zeetta Networks has tackled this issue head-on, and has designed NetOS® in order to cope with the demands of today and those of a 5G future.

RELIABLE MOBILE CONNECTIVITY

For wireless operators in particular, the provision of consistently reliable connectivity to mobile users is the stuff of nightmares. But NetOS® is capable of maintaining a network connection to deliver the best wireless signal – thanks to the agility of its built-in Software-Defined Networking (SDN) technology.

For network operators, NetOS® technology has the ability to:

  • Manage diverse sub-networks (sensor, wireless and wired)
  • Dynamically switch between different wireless technologies e.g. Wi-Fi, 3G/4G, LTE etc.
  • Combine the available bandwidths from each technology in order to meet the application’s Quality of Service (QoS) requirements (in some cases the delivery of uninterrupted high definition video).

Network operators require a seamless, resilient network service.
NetOS® can carry wireless video over one or more wireless networks, whilst our sensor networks make users visible by a centralised controller. For network operators, our service guarantees reliability and performance in all situations.

HOW DOES NetOS® DO THIS?

NetOS® maintains a robust network connection during the handover from one wireless network to another by monitoring and re-configuring the data flows. It utilises a unique combination of analytical and heuristic models that take into account constant and time varying parameters of the transmission channel, which enables the platform to guarantee the quality of service and isolation of virtual networks for optical and wireless networks.

NetOS® dynamically decides which network(s) must be employed to achieve the required level of channel capacity and QoS. The decision could be done automatically based on a performance metric, manually by the operator, or by the end-user.

USE CASE:
EMERGENCY SERVICES WIRELESS VIDEO

Our technology can be of vital importance in the case of wireless video. Video communication has been identified as one of the most important technologies to increase the performance of the Emergency services.

The deployment of an Emergency service can be triggered based on a signal generated by a sensor in an Internet-of-Things (IoT) mesh network. This is easily implemented thanks to NetOS®’s global view of underlying sub-networks.

Real time video allows first responders to make informed decisions in the field. We can provide an uninterrupted high-definition (HD) video link from, for example, a moving ambulance to any node of the core network (e.g. Emergency Control Centre).

WHAT IS NetOS® REQUIRED TO DO?

In this example, the Emergency services could rely on the capability of the NetOS® to simultaneously manage several sub-networks, including:

  • a wired optical fibre core network
  • a WiFi network
  • a LTE cellular network
  • a mesh network of sensors and actuators, etc.

WHY IS THIS SO IMPORTANT?

During an emergency, real time video links can allow first responders to make fully informed decisions regarding the situation in hand, and take appropriate actions. However, establishing video links while an emergency unfolds is a difficult task because, depending on the nature of the emergency, the geographic location may be remote, or the coverage from some of the local communications networks might be affected by the same causes of the emergency itself (e.g. flooding, riots, etc.).
